Abstract

The pulsed magnets now available at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory provide routine access to high magnetic fields in cryogenic environments that are world unique, where pulsed field research occurs in a challenging experimental environment, where measurements at micro-volt levels must be made within a 10kV/100kA pulse. We review approaches to recovering weak electric signals in the challenging environment of pulsed magnetic fields implemented at the NHMFL. Recent technique developments including AC-specific heat measurements at sub-kelvin temperatures, nanosecond-scale resistivity measurements, as well as customized instrumentation and computer-assisted signal detection using Field Programmable Gate Arrays will be discussed.
